U16 national team with a clear win against Austria
The German U16 national team ends the 4-nation home tournament with a sweeping victory and thus secures the tournament victory. In Deggendorf, Lower Bavaria, the Austrian selection was under control at all times and ended the tournament with a score of 7:1 (4:1; 2:0; 1:0).
Right in the first third, coach Stefan Maier's team set the course for victory and went into the first break with a 4-1 lead thanks to goals from Korte twice and Heigl twice.
The German selection continued to have the game firmly under control as the game progressed and never relinquished their clear lead. With further goals from Korte and Proske in the second period, Team Germany increased the lead to 6:1.
The German selection was also superior in the final third and Fischer made the final score 7-1 with another goal.
With this victory, Germany was able to win the tournament with seven points from 3 games and relegate Norway to second place.
U16 national coach Stefan Maier: "In a game in which both teams were fighting for the tournament victory, we were able to dominate for 60 minutes. The creativity in attack and the discipline in defense were impressive. Compliments to the entire team, that was the best performance this season."

U16 women's national team with defeat against Switzerland
The German U16 women's national team was unable to win its second game after its opening win against Austria. There was a 0:3 (0:0; 0:1; 0:2) defeat against the team from Switzerland.
Compared to the previous day, Germany started with a lot more concentration and immediately had some good opportunities. It took the Swiss a few minutes before they appeared dangerous in front of Felicity Luby's goal. Now it was an even game with chances on both sides. However, the teams failed to score in the first third despite good opportunities on both sides.
The Swiss came out of the locker room better and after 24 minutes Sandra Schmidt was able to make it 0-1. Germany fought, but always had to watch out for enemy attacks. Several counterattacks by the Swiss were just cleared. Although Germany had a few chances during the third, they were unable to capitalize on them. Three power plays were also unsuccessful and so we went into the second break with this narrow deficit.
Since the Swiss were by no means hiding, there were attacks from both teams in the final third. The biggest came after a counterattack by Germany. But instead of equalizing, Ivana Wey made it 0-2 (48th). The DEBteam kept trying, but the Swiss defense around goalkeeper Jessica Streicher was good. Eight minutes before the end, Germany was also unlucky when a shot hit the post. Two minutes later, Jade Surdez was able to march unhindered through the German third and score to make the final score 0-3. Despite all their efforts, the U16s were unable to score and Switzerland deserved to win in the end.
Tomorrow it continues straight away, then at 13:00 p.m. Team Germany will meet the Czech team, who have already been confirmed as tournament winners. With another win our team can secure second place.
U16 women’s national coach Florian Neumayer: “The team played much better than the day before, but unfortunately they were inconsistent in their finishing. Our positional play in our own third wasn't that good and the crucial duels were lost. We didn't play a bad game, but we have to be more consistent and quick in finishing and also improve in duels in our own third.”
