The U19 national team was the first young talent team to start its 5-nation tournament in Turku (Finland) today. U19 national coach Jochen Molling's team defeated Switzerland 3:2 (0:1; 2:0; 1:1).
Switzerland was the more dangerous team in the first third and forced goalie Philipp Maurer to make 12 saves, while his counterpart Stephan Charlin only needed five saves. Switzerland took the lead after six minutes - Gian Jannett scored for the Swiss to give them a 1-0 lead. The middle section showed an inverted picture. The German team increasingly gained momentum and had a 14:5 shooting ratio in their favor. This changed the DEB-Selection ultimately turned into goals: Tim Lutz (30th) and Erik Betzold (40th) turned the score to 2-1 from a German perspective with their goals. However, this lead only lasted 117 seconds before Gianluca Barbei scored the equalizer for the Swiss. In the end, they still had the better ending DEB-Selection that celebrated victory in Turku with a goal from Louis Brune in the 48th minute.
Jochen Molling, U19 national coach: “It was an intense, physical game. We were able to keep up with our opponents very well. From the second third onwards we dominated the game and deservedly took the lead. All in all, it was a good start to the tournament and a perfect start.”

The German U4 national team celebrated a victory against Switzerland at the 17 Nations Cup in Füssen. U17 national coach Frank Fischöder's team won 2-1 (1-0; 0-1; 1-0) at the Federal Training Center in Füssen.
The German team started the game well and was rewarded with a 7-1 lead through Markus Schweiger in the 0th minute. As a result, the DEB-Selection of the game was the better team on the ice. However, coach Frank Fischöder's team's lead only lasted until the middle of the second third before Valentin Hofer equalized the game in favor of the Swiss (33'). As a result, the German team failed to consistently capitalize on their superiority and scoring opportunities. However, Jussi Petersen put the German team back in the lead in the final section after Ludwig Danzer's preparatory work (50th), which lasted until the final siren.
