Leon Draisaitl took part in the NHL Allstar Game in San Jose. After Uwe Krupp (1991), Olaf Kölzig (1998 & 2000) and Marco Sturm (1999), the 23-year-old is the fourth German to receive this honor. The national player narrowly missed out on a direct nomination for the All-Star Game, but was awarded a nomination Fanvoting, which was promoted via the social media channels of the Edmonton Oilers, the Deutscher Eishockey-Bund and his strike partner Connor McDavid, among others, was elected to the Pacific Division team.
On the day before the All-Star Game, Leon Draisaitl shone at the "Skills Competition": With a time of 1:09,088 minutes, the 23-year-old was the best passer, ahead of Sebastian Aho (1:18,530) and secured the winner's check for $25.000. However, the national player was eliminated in the semifinals of the All-Star Game the following day with the Pacific Division selection against the Central Division selection after a 4:10 defeat. In the end, the Metropolitan Division team led by superstar Sidney Crosby secured the title - they won the final in "three against three" with 10:5 against the Central Division players.
