The first chance of the game belonged to the hosts, but the shot caused no problems for Tatjana Pfeifer in the German goal. In the direct counterattack, Lilli Welcke had the opportunity to take an early lead, completely free-standing. The Austrian goalkeeper also had a lot to do, but Alina Fiedler and Heidi Strompf couldn't overcome her. The game now moved to the Austrian third. After five minutes, the German team had the first opportunity to start their power play. But Austria defended aggressively and kept the German players away from the goal until the penalty expired. The German team ran attack after attack. In the second power play, the attack formation was quickly formed, Austria narrowed the spaces around the goal and hardly allowed any shots. Two minutes later, another Austrian had to go to the penalty box. During this penalty, one of the hosts blocked a German shot from the blue line, ran towards Pfeifer alone and could only be stopped unfairly. Goalkeeper Tatjana Pfeifer confidently parried the following penalty. Even at the beginning of the middle third, the German team showed a convincing performance when they were outnumbered and survived the two minutes unscathed. A shot off the post by Alina Leveringhaus in the 27th minute almost made the German fans cheer. Austria now repeatedly came dangerously in front of the German goal. However, four and a half minutes before the end of the period, Annabella Sterzik redeemed the German ranks with her first World Cup goal. Jennifer Miller brought the puck in front of the opponent's goal from outside and Sterzik pushed the puck into the net for a 1-0 lead. And the German team didn't let up, continued to put pressure on them and really restricted their opponents. Almost two minutes later she hung up DEB-Select by. Lisa Heinz set up for Lilli Welcke, who extended the lead with a shot through the goalkeeper's legs to make it 2-0 at halftime.
The DEB-Selection picked up in the final third where it left off in the second. One attack after another rolled towards the Austrian goal. In the 42nd minute, Luisa Welcke completed a beautiful pawn trick to make it 3-0 for Germany. Four minutes later, captain Franziska Klinger hammered the target under the crossbar with a powerful shot to make it 4-0. Shortly before the end, Sarah Kubiczek ran an attack through the middle and sank the puck to make the final score 5-0 for Germany.
Norbert Weber, U18 women's assistant coach: “Our team went into the game highly motivated today and achieved all the goals we asked for. We had very good chances, but we weren't able to convert them into anything worth counting. But the team remained patient and consistently took advantage of their chances. A deserved victory in all respects.”
