In the second preparatory game, the German U20 national team celebrated their second success on Wednesday at the Federal Training Center in Füssen. The team of U20 national coach Christian Künast defeated the French U20 team 5:2 (1:2, 3:0, 1:0).
The recently arrived players Dominik Bokk, Justin Schütz and Leon Gawanke were used for the first time in the game against their country's neighbors. The latter took over the captaincy role in the German team's second preparatory game.
The French team got off to a better start at the national performance center in Füssen, celebrating their opening goal in the third minute through Benjamin Berard. Jules Gallet then extended the lead (14th minute). The German team had not yet found their way into the game at this point, but managed to score an important goal just two minutes before the end of the third period through Frankfurt's Mike Fischer.
The second third was much more to the taste of the Germans Fans. DEB-Selection pushed for the equalizer and was rewarded again in the person of Mike Fischer. The 19-year-old used a rebound from the French's pads Goalies for his second goal of the day (28th). As a result, the German offensive really got going: Dominik Bokk with a one-timer (31st) and Tim Wohlgemuth (32nd) turned the game around and made it 4-2 in the third.
The German U20 national team started the final period with a majority of their own, but was unable to score their fourth power play goal. However, U20 national coach Christian Künast's team controlled the game and repeatedly had their own scoring opportunities. Tobias Möller took advantage of one of them and sealed the victory against the French.
After the 5-3 win against Norway, the U20 national coach's team celebrated their second success in the second game of their World Cup preparations in the evening. The two previous German opponents – Norway and France – will play the last preparatory game at the Federal Training Center in Füssen tomorrow, Thursday, at 19.00 p.m. The DEB-Selection starts on Sunday, December 9th at 16:30 p.m. in the 2019 IIHF U20 Ice Hockey World Championship Div.
