Second game against a top division team as part of the U20 Future Challenge / U20 national coach Christian Künast: “We want to sell ourselves better than in Regensburg”

The German U20 national team will meet Wohnbau on Tuesday, October 9, 2018, from 19.30:XNUMX p.m. in the Essen-West ice rink Moskitos Essen. After the Eisbären Regensburg, the team is the second league team to compete against the team of U20 national coach Christian Künast in the new season. Künast nominated two goalkeepers, seven defenders and twelve strikers for the preparatory game.

Compared to the game against Eisbären Regensburg, there are a total of eleven changes in the German squad: In goal, Hendrik Hane is back in the team squad after an injury - in defense, Moritz Seider is in the 21-man squad. The 17-year-old player Adler Mannheim recently celebrated his debut goal in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) and has so far played four times in the top German league. In addition to him, defenders Tobias Möller, Leon Hüttl and Niklas Heinzinger have joined the U20 national team squad.

There are also some changes in attack compared to the game against Regensburg: Tim Stützle is the current top scorer U20 DNL Division I in the squad. For the Jungadler Mannheim he has scored six goals and 14 assists in just eight games. He forms a team with 16-year-old Lukas Reichel (Eisbären Berlin) a duo that is usually used in the U17 national team and already caused a sensation at the 5-nations tournament in Piešťany (Slovakia) in August this year. Lukas Reichel became the tournament's top scorer (five goals and six assists) and his line partner Tim Stützle contributed another two goals and five assists. The German U17 national team took second place and surprisingly beat the USA after being 4:6 behind with 7:6 (3:1, 0:3, 3:2, 1:0) after extra time. The two 16-year-olds are now playing for U20 national coach Christian Künast's team.
