After yesterday's 16-0 defeat, the German U1 women's national team narrowly lost 1-2 (1-1, 0-1, 0-0) in their second international match against the Czech Republic.
Already in the third minute, goalkeeper Felicity Luby was beaten by a follow-up shot from Anna Jirina Pavlasova. However, the German team was not impressed by the quick deficit and was rewarded with a goal from Annabella Sterzik in the eighth minute when they were outnumbered. Both nations ended in a draw after 20 minutes.
In the middle period there were chances on both sides, but only the Czech team had reason to celebrate: Barbora Bartakova scored the visitors' lead again after an assist from Denisa Habartova - the second shorthanded goal of the game. The same picture emerged in the final third: both teams created their own chances to score, but neither team should be rewarded for their offensive effort. The two teams will meet again in November when the two second legs take place in the Czech Republic.
U16 women’s national coach Florian Neumayer: “I can once again attest to the high level of commitment and fighting spirit of all the players. Unfortunately, we made life difficult for ourselves through imprecise passes and inaccuracies when finishing in front of the goal. We have to work on that in the future.”
