The German U16 women's national team narrowly lost 0-1 (0-1, 0-0, 0-0) against the Czech Republic in the first of two international matches in Selb. The second game against the Czech selection will take place tomorrow, Friday, from 13.00 p.m. in the Netzsch Arena.
Eight debutants were nominated by coach Florian Neumayer and wore the DEB-Shirt. The German team started off nervously in the first third and came into trouble several times against the guests, who were strong in terms of running and technique. Goalie Lilly Uhrmann impressed with her usual strong performance, but had to admit defeat from close range in the 12th minute. Dominika Malicka scored the goal for the Czechs.
In the middle section, the German players managed to create some good scoring chances by significantly increasing their performance. However, these opportunities were not used to achieve any tangible success. In the final third the game was completely open and balanced. Despite further good chances on both sides, there were no further goals.
U16 women’s national coach Florian Neumayer: “Unfortunately, we started the first game of the season too nervously and gave the opponent too much space. It was only from the middle section that the team was able to improve through better positional play and implement our instructions better. Unfortunately, despite good attempts, we were unable to score our own goal. The Czechs’ narrow victory is okay.”
