The German U17 national team suffered their first defeat at the 5-nation tournament in Piešťany (Slovakia). U17 national coach Thomas Schädler's team narrowly lost to the Czech Republic 0-1 (0-0, 0-1, 0-0) in the Easton Aréna. In the fourth and final game of the tournament, the German selection will play against the USA tomorrow from 17.30:XNUMX p.m.
The DEB-Selection created the first good scoring opportunities through Lukas Reichel after 60 seconds. The 16-year-old had already demonstrated his ability to score goals in the first two games of the 5-nation tournament and attracted attention with four goals and four assists. As a result, the German team created an increase in chances (9:3 shots on goal) and won twelve of 19 faceoffs in the first 20 minutes. However, both teams went into the locker room without scoring.
The Czech U17 national team started with a lot of momentum in the middle section and increasingly increased the pressure on the German team. Goalie Niklas Lunemann and his defensive ranks became more and more in focus and were powerless when Ondrej Balaz shot in the 36th minute. The 15-year-old put the Czech Republic in front with a well-placed shot from the blue line. The second Czech goal was in the air in the 41st minute: Sebastian Malat appeared free-standing in the backcourt, but his shot landed in the Fanghand of the German goalkeeper Niklas Lunemann. In the final period, the boys pulled themselves together again and played well. In the end, it was a narrow defeat for our U17 team."
