In the second third, the Swiss started with a few scoring opportunities, which, however, remained unused. The best chance came in the middle of the third when the Swiss were awarded a penalty. In the duel with Keanu Derungs, however, goalie Marinus Schunda had the upper hand and prevented the first goal. At the end of the middle period, the German team had eleven shots on goal, the Swiss ten - but both nations failed to score. The German team continued to show commitment in the final period, but had to accept the first goal. In the 53rd minute, Joel Bieri scored the goal for the Swiss. The German team previously played in the majority, but took their own advantage through a mistake in substitution. 50 seconds later, the Swiss scored their first goal of the game. The goalscorer Joel Bieri was successful for a second time shortly before the end, but he kicked the puck into the goal - his skate goal was then disallowed.
