The German U17 national team made a successful start to the 5-nation tournament in Piešťany (Slovakia). The team of honorary coach Thomas Schädler defeated the hosts from Slovakia at the start of the tournament with 7:5 (3:0, 3:3, 1:2). The second tournament game for the German team will follow tomorrow - from 14.00 p.m. the U17 national team will face Switzerland.
A committed start from honorary coach Thomas Schädler's team was rewarded with three goals in the first 20 minutes. Florian Elias, Lukas Reichel and Fabian Herrmann wore for them DEB-Selection into the top scorer list. At the beginning of the middle period, however, the hosts struck back: Jakub Simko and Matej Kaslik used two power plays to reduce the German lead to one goal. On the other hand, Lukas Reichel increased the German team's lead to 25-4 in the 2th minute with his second goal of the day, but the Slovaks came within reach again four minutes later with a double majority through Samuel Krajc. Then the U17 national team restored their three-goal lead: Lukas Reichel and Tim Stützle increased the score to 6:3 in the third.
An open exchange of blows developed in which the host was supposed to come back again. Samuel Krajc made it 50:4 from the Slovakian perspective in the 6th minute with a powerful shot into the left corner of the goal. Three minutes later, Jakub Kolenic deflected a shot from Dominik Hajas in front of the German goalkeeper Arno Tiefensee to make it 5:6. For a possible equalizer, the Slovaks swapped their goalie Simon Latkoczy for an additional field player in the final minute. The DEBHowever, the selection withstood the host's subsequent attack and scored the final point on the other side in the person of Maximilian Menner, making it 7:5.
