The German U20 national team lost the second game of the U20 Summer Challenge. Coach Christian Künast's team lost to the Czech Republic 0:2 (0:0, 0:0, 0:2). In the last game of the tournament, the German team will play against Slovakia tomorrow from 11.30 a.m.
As in the opening game against Switzerland, the U20 national team created good scoring opportunities in the first half. However, U20 national coach Christian Künast's team did not reward themselves for their effort - as a result, the first third ended goalless. In the middle section, the German selection initially weakened itself: Justin Schütz had to go to the penalty box for two minutes after being hit with the stick, and a minute and a half later Bastian Eckl also took a seat there - he served a two-minute penalty for goalkeeper Hendrik Hane. But the Czechs did not use their double majority to take the lead. On the other hand, the German team had their own advantage shortly before the end of the middle period, but this did not lead to the opening goal of the game.
In the 46th minute, the goal spell in Zurich was to be broken: Filip Jirasek scored to make it 1-0 for the Czech Republic after an assist from Oskar Flynn. Four minutes later, Petr Eret extended the Czech lead to two goals. The German selection failed to score on Friday afternoon and lost 0-2 to their opponents.
Christian Künast, U20 national coach: “Our team once again showed a committed performance. We created a lot of chances offensively, but unfortunately we lacked the composure in front of the goal. Tomorrow the last opponent of the Summer Challenge awaits, Slovakia.”
