The 36-year-old wears the “C” on his chest / national coach Marco Sturm also appointed six assistants for the World Cup
National coach Marco Sturm has made his choice: Dennis Seidenberg will be the captain of the German national ice hockey team at the 2018 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship in Denmark. “I am very proud and honored to be able to lead the boys onto the ice as captain,” said Seidenberg, who had already taken over the position for several games at the 2017 home World Cup in Cologne.
For the first time, Sturm named six assistant captains. Moritz Müller, Patrick Hager, Leon Draisaitl, Korbinian Holzer, Yannic Seidenberg and Matthias Plachta wear the “A” on their chest. Since only two assistants are allowed per game, the co-captains are divided according to jersey color. If Germany plays in white, Holzer and Draisaitl will act as assistants. Moritz Müller and Patrick Hager wear the “A” in gold and Yannic Seidenberg and Matthias Plachta in black.
