The spectators who traveled in 1894 as well as the Latvian and German supporters sitting in front of the televisions and live streams saw a close and hard-fought game from the start. Both teams started cautiously but determinedly and repeatedly created chances. Yannik Valenti was able to make the German colors celebrate for the first time with a power-play goal in the 12th minute of the game, but the joy didn't last too long.
