As the first third progressed, Jussi Petersen scored in the power play, Lucas Reichel again and Jussi Petersen again to give them a four-goal lead. In a one-sided game, Stefan Mayr's team increased the score to 4:6 in the middle third. Lucas Reichel and Florian Elias scored again. In the final period, Justin Volek added the seventh goal for the German U0s before Italy scored a consolation goal.
On Friday, the German U16 national team will face the runners-up in Group B (Austria, Denmark or Switzerland) in the semi-finals. The next day there will be either the final or the game for third place.
U16 national coach Stefan Mayer: "We really put on a fireworks display in the first third today and then delivered a top performance for 60 minutes. Yesterday's defensive problems were no longer an issue today. We have now qualified for the semi-finals and are looking forward to the next game."
