The U16 national team also won the second game of the international 6-nation tournament. The final score against Italy was 7:1 (4:0; 2:0; 1:1). Lucas Reichel scored the lead after just 37 seconds. As the first third progressed, Jussi Petersen scored in the power play, Lucas Reichel again and Jussi Petersen again to give them a four-goal lead. In a one-sided game, Stefan Mayr's team increased the score to 4:6 in the middle third. Lucas Reichel and Florian Elias scored again. In the final period, Justin Volek added the seventh goal for the German U0s before Italy scored a consolation goal.
On Friday, the German U16 national team will face the runners-up in Group B (Austria, Denmark or Switzerland) in the semi-finals. The next day there will be either the final or the game for third place.
U16 national coach Stefan Mayer: "We really put on a fireworks display in the first third today and then delivered a top performance for 60 minutes. Yesterday's defensive problems were no longer an issue today. We have now qualified for the semi-finals and are looking forward to the next game."
