Clear victory at the end of the World Cup preparations: The U18 national team also won the second preparation game for the 2018 IIHF U18 Ice Hockey World Championship and clearly defeated Slovenia 10-0 (1-0; 6-0; 3-0) in the Federal Training Center in Füssen.
The DEB-Selection led by coach Frank Fischöder had the game in their hands from the start, allowed few chances and put Slovenia under increasing pressure. The deserved lead goal came in the 2nd minute of the game by Tim Fleischer, who was served precisely by Philipp Mass in a two-on-one situation. Despite numerous further chances, the score remained 1:0 until the first break. In the second period, however, the spell was broken: Moritz Seider got things started (22:01 / PP1), followed by Tim Stützle (25:13), who was to score two more goals and a total of seven points that evening. A good minute later, first Yannik Valenti (26:36), then Tim Fleischer (32:23) and Manuel Alberg (33:06) extended the lead further. Yannik Valenti (7:0) scored his second goal of the afternoon to make it 33:51 from the German perspective. In the final period, the approximately 130 spectators who had traveled to the event saw the German team continue to clearly dominate. Erik Betzold (42:13) and Tim Stützle in a double pack (48:02 and 56:10) ensured the 10:0 final score with their goals.
Frank Fischöder, U18 national coach: "We were much more goal-oriented today than yesterday. We were also able to achieve such a clear result thanks to our consistency in our own zone, but we must not let ourselves be blinded by the high score of the game."
