Christian Ehrhoff will carry the German flag for Team Germany into the stadium at the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games in Pyeongchang.
DOSB President Alfons Hörmann: "This decision was easy for us not only because of the success, but also because Christian Ehrhoff and the national ice hockey team are an excellent messenger for fair play in sport. It couldn't be better."
"This is of course a great honour for me personally," said Ehrhoff when the news, which was also a surprise for him, was announced in the German house. "But this is also representative of the team. Not just the national ice hockey team, but also Team D. This solidarity that Team D has shown here, which we felt from the very beginning when we supported the athletes at the first competitions and were also able to experience the support ourselves at all of our games. It is simply great to see and it is simply a huge joy and honour to be a part of this Team D."
