The Deutscher Eishockey-Bund e.V. (DEB) mourns the loss of Hans-Peter, “Hansi”, Sültenfuß, who died quite unexpectedly this morning at the age of 91 despite his old age.
For many years of his life, the Düsseldorf native made a successful and representative contribution to the sport of ice hockey regionally and nationally. The ice hockey sport in Germany and Düsseldorf owes him a lot, because as the long-time head of the organization Düsseldorfer EG He was in charge for over half a century and had a decisive influence on the club, its successes, its public appearance and thus also on German ice hockey.
Hansi Sültenfuß was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit in 1998 for his many extraordinary activities in the field of sport. He was also a member of the German Ice Hockey Hall of Fame and the recipient of numerous other awards, medals and decorations in the areas of customs, sport and local life.
Franz Reindl: “The farewell to Hansi Sültenfuß is touching. All of his outstanding organizational achievements for DEG, DEB-International matches, IIHF World Championships and European Cups or NHL visits to Düsseldorf with his always warm, engaging and pleasant manner are and will always be remembered. The DEB and the entire German ice hockey family are thinking of his family.”
