Ice hockey has a long tradition in Germany. A number of successes have been celebrated both nationally and internationally over the past decades, with the bronze medal at the 1976 Olympic Games in Innsbruck (AUT) still being German ice hockey's greatest success to this day.
However, since the basis for future success is laid in the smaller ice rinks of the country, the first information and discussion event “The country needs new ice rinks! – An impulse for young talent and popular ice hockey sports in Germany” instead. In cooperation with the ice hockey association Nordrhein-Westfalen and the International Trade Fair for Open Spaces, Sports and Swimming Facilities (FSB) should be a step in the right direction in a new direction. The invitation from the Deutscher Eishockey-Bund (DEB) met with an overwhelming response. With over 140 participants from clubs, associations and companies, the future layout of German ice rinks was debated.
After the opening DEB-President Franz Reindl handed over the floor to the speakers. International guests such as Frank Gonzalez and Patxi Lagarda (both IIHF) as well as Ing. Vitezslav Kus (PADOK Investments) were able to contribute their personal views and experiences on the individual best practices. In addition to several interesting lectures on the topics, for example Planning, construction and financing of small ice rinks from a single source, or too Expectations and fears when building and using a new ice rink The problem was constructively addressed in a final panel discussion.
The Deutscher Eishockey-Bund would like to thank all participants and speakers who contributed to the success of the event.
