The squad is ready: U20 national coach Christian Künast has named three goalkeepers, seven defensemen and 13 strikers in the squad for the upcoming 2018 IIHF U20 Ice Hockey World Championship DIv.I (December 10-16.12.2017, XNUMX) in Courchevel and Meribel / France.

After five intensive days of training at the Federal Training Center in Füssen, she leaves DEB-Selection tomorrow morning to the venue Courchevel in France, where the tournament itself starts next Saturday. “Courchevel and Meribel is a ski resort and is located at an altitude of 1850 meters. We deliberately arrive a little earlier so that we can get used to the altitude there,” says Künast.

As announced, the Federal Young talent coach named the final World Cup squad today after the last joint training: “It is never easy to make these decisions. The boys presented themselves really well and I would like to once again express my thanks for their commitment.” In addition to the two defenders Mannes and Wirt, the strikers Brunnhuber and Schiemenz are also heading home.

The DEB-Selection fights in the French ski resort with Kazakhstan (December 10.12th / 14.30:12.12 p.m.), Austria (December 19.00th / 13.12:19.00 p.m.), hosts France (December 15.12th / 13.00:16.12 p.m.), newly promoted Hungary (December 14.30th / XNUMX:XNUMX p.m.) and last year's relegated team Top Division Latvia (December XNUMXth / XNUMX:XNUMX p.m.) for promotion. “Overall, we expect a narrow field of participants,” says Künast. “All teams have demonstrated consistency and quality at a high level in recent years.
