Mayer: “We demanded everything from the Finns” / Reichel equalized 46 seconds before the end
The U16 national team had to narrowly admit defeat to Finland in the second game and narrowly lost to the hosts in Vierumäki 3:4 (0:1; 1:1; 2:1; 0:1) after extra time. The third and final game will take place tomorrow at 10.00 a.m.
Stefan Mayer and Norbert Weber, coaching team of the U16 national team: "Today the balance between offense and defense was much better from the start than yesterday and we were able to play on equal terms for almost 60 minutes. Ultimately, the Finns had a little more of the game, but we threw everything into the balance and conceded much less defensively than yesterday. Our goalkeeper also gave us the opportunity to keep the game open, so that we kept getting good scoring opportunities on offense. Thanks to a terrific energy performance and strong team spirit, we then made it into overtime. Only then were the Finns able to decide the game in their favor. You can really be proud of our boys because they demanded everything from the Finns that afternoon."
