U18 women lose to Swiss team 2:3, women 1:2
U18 women have to admit defeat to the Swiss
The German U18 women's national team lost 3:2 (3:1; 2:0; 1:1) against Switzerland in the second and final game of the 0-nation tournament in Füssen.
The DEBThe team got off to a good start and was able to create a number of scoring opportunities in the first few minutes. But Stephanie Neuert, who started in goal today, should not have to complain about being bored. After the strong opening minutes of the German U18 women, the Swiss women also got into the game better and brought the puck dangerously in front of the German goal time and again. In the 7th minute of the game, it was Lilli Welcke who took advantage of a rebound from Sarah Kubiczek's shot to give Germany the lead. But the equaliser was not long in coming. Halfway through the period, the Germans were careless in defence and Switzerland, in the person of Rahel Enzler, thanked them. She was able to drive towards Neuert unhindered and put the puck in the crossbar. Just a minute later, it was Sydney Berta who was able to beat Neuert from close range to give Switzerland a 2-1 lead.
The German women hadn't quite come out of the locker room when the Swiss women's first attack rolled towards them, which Rahel Enzler took advantage of with a shot under the crossbar to make it 3-1. The Swiss strikers were then allowed to shoot from promising positions, but Stephanie Neuert continued to keep her colors in the game. In the 28th minute, the German team had the chance to shorten the score in the power play, but both Lilli Welcke from the slot and Korinna Fiedler from the blue line failed. As a result, the Germans were able to establish themselves in the Swiss third, but their shot attempts were repeatedly repelled.
Things changed in the final section DEBteam like the day before, the goalkeeper, Pia Surke was given playing time in the last twenty minutes. The spell seemed to be broken in a power play in the 45th minute of the game. Christina Schwamborn placed the disc in the Swiss goal after a cross pass from Luisa Kaiser at the far corner. A short time later, Lilli Welcke narrowly missed the equalizer while standing free in front of the goal. Switzerland then took a break and the measure had an effect. As a result, the German players found themselves more often exposed to attacks from the Swiss on defense. The German U18 women tried everything until the end, but even removing the goalkeeper in favor of a sixth field player did not have the desired effect and Switzerland narrowly won 3-2 in the last game of the tournament.
Tommy Kettner, U18 women's national coach: “We have gained important insights into what points we still need to work on before the start of the World Cup in two months. In the next measures we will address exactly these points. Overall, we are very satisfied with the course.”

The women's national team is again narrowly defeated by Switzerland
The women's national team also narrowly lost the second test in Zuchwil against Switzerland. In the end, after a balanced, intense and strong game, the score was 1:2 (0:0; 0:0; 1:2). Marie Delarbre scored the only German goal this weekend on a pass from captain Julia Zorn.
In the first half of the game, both teams played at a high tempo right from the start, as they did in yesterday's game. after the DEB-Selection had survived two outnumbered situations in the 3rd and 10th minutes of the game unscathed, the team led by women's national coach Benjamin Hinterstocker was able to gain more and more shares of the game with good chances.
The intensity of both teams remained high as the second third progressed. While the German team missed good opportunities in the power play at the beginning of the middle period, they were able to produce a strong performance when they were outnumbered on the other side a few minutes later.
In the final section, the Swiss took advantage of two situations and took the lead with two goals (51st and 53rd minute of the game). After a break it seemed DEBselection again. In the next change, the forward line of Delarbre, Lanzl and Zorn were able to use a three-on-one counterattack and score the equalizer. The German team then had the upper hand and after a timeout by the Swiss, Hinterstocker took goalkeeper Franziska Albl off the ice in favor of a sixth field player. But in the end it was not enough. Switzerland thus won the second game in Zuchwil on home ice against the German women's national team.
Benjamin Hinterstocker, women's national coach: "Today, just like yesterday, we played very intensive ice hockey and invested a lot in our offense. In both games, we shot at the opponent's goal a total of 60 times. The performance of our two goalkeepers, Jenny Harß and Franziska Albl, as well as that of the two Swiss goalkeepers are the reason for these close results. I see the development as positive: in addition to the proven regular players, the younger players with few international appearances have shown very good performances here in international comparisons."
Julia Zorn, captain of the women's national team: "We were able to finish an intensive week of training with two good games. It's a shame, however, that we were unable to achieve our goal of winning every game. Nevertheless, we were able to make a good impression against a team that is in the midst of its immediate Olympic preparations and take positives from the two games."
Andrea Lanzl, Assistant Women's National Team: "I think the two games were very instructive for us. We were able to implement many elements from the previous intensive training week, but we also made mistakes from which we will learn. In the next games we absolutely have to make use of our many scoring opportunities."
