U20 national team meets Garmisch / Schädler new assistant coach in Füssen

The U20 national team will meet SC Riessersee on September 26.09.2017th, 18.30 at 20:2 p.m. at the Federal Training Center in Füssen as part of the U20 Future Challenge. The format of the U20 Future Challenge proved itself last season and was an important part of the preparation for the young talent team on the way to the World Cup. “The standard in the games was always high and extremely good for the development of our team,” said Christian Künast. “In the games against the DEL2 clubs, the players have the opportunity to compete with grown, experienced men, something that only very few in the clubs have during the regular season. At the same time, the measures are helpful for us because we are on the ice together at regular intervals. A big thank you goes to the clubs that compete against us and thus significantly support the development of German ice hockey.”

Künast will be assisted by Thomas Schädler until the end of the season. The Rosenheim native looked after the U16 national team together with Uli Liebsch last season. “We had some shifts and new appointments in the young talent teams. In addition to the new U16 coaching team Mayer and Weber, Uli Liebsch will be supported in the U17 by Christian Hommel,” concludes DEBSports director Stefan Schaidnagel. “Christian Künast will be supporting Frank Fischöder in the U18 national team this season and will compensate for the departure of Steffen Ziesche.” Ziesche took up a position as assistant coach at the beginning of this season. The place next to Christian Künast in the U20 national team also had to be filled, because Toni Söderholm will continue to keep an eye on the players of the U20 national team, just from a different perspective.
