U16 women parallel in Füssen / Hinterstocker: “Bringing younger players up to international level”
3-nations tournament at the start of the season: The Women's national team opens the 2017/18 season with the Euro Hockey Challenge in Sweden. Women's national coach Benjamin Hinterstocker has nominated two goalkeepers, nine defenders and twelve strikers for the upcoming games, including five debutants: "Six players from the squad are still eligible to play in the upcoming U18 World Cup and will play a central role in the team there. Our goal is to introduce the younger players to the international level of the A team as early as possible. The experienced players will also be given responsibility in their leadership role. In the long term, the focus is on forming the World Cup team for 2019."
In addition to Hintertsocker, U18 assistant coach Franziska Busch will accompany the senior national team for the first time: "We had very intensive training days in Füssen from last Thursday to Sunday and were able to prepare for the upcoming international matches. Now it's important for the players to demonstrate their skills and abilities in the games. I see my priority here as being to support the younger athletes with advice and action."

ParaThe women's Euro Hockey Challenge meets here U16 women's national team at the Federal Training Center (BLZ) in Füssen for a joint ice training course. Under the leadership of U18 women's national coach Tommy Kettner, the U16 players are to be prepared for the women's U18 program through central courses and for the European Cup.
The European Cup took place last year for the first time ever for the U16 women’s age group. DEB-Selection finished the tournament in Budapest (Hungary) in fourth place. “The format was confirmed last season in Budapest with a high international level and was an important step in the right direction for the development of women’s ice hockey,” said Kettner.
