26 field players are currently carrying out performance tests at the OSP-Heidelberg Rhein-Neckar
No ice training, but lots of exercises on dry land: Since today, the German national ice hockey players have been sweating at the Heidelberg Rhein-Neckar Olympic base during the performance tests for the 2018 Olympic Games in Pyeongchang. “This measure or the Deutschland-Cup November in Augsburg are, so to speak, our last joint sessions before the Olympic Games next year,” said national coach Marco Sturm.
Sturm handed over a list of 56 potential candidates for the big tournament to the German Olympic Sports Confederation. The players who are not in Heidelberg have already completed their tests or will complete them in the coming days.
In Heidelberg, the actors cannot complain about the lack of employment. Breakfast is served at seven o'clock, and sports medical examinations including sprinting and jumping exercises as well as strength diagnostics take place at eight o'clock under the supervision of Dr. Joachim Jost from OSP. In the afternoon the national coach asks for interval training. Football, boxing and swimming are also on the program before heading home again on Wednesday afternoon.
