For the first time since the European Cup in Budapest, the U16 women's national team is meeting for a scouting course in Füssen. The age group will be integrated into the women's national teams' annual plan in the 2017/2018 season. Plans include two multi-day scouting sessions in the summer, international matches later in the season against the Czech Republic and Switzerland, and a 4-nation tournament in February in Germany. The scouting will begin next week from June 28.06th to July 01.07.2017st, 18 at the national performance center in Füssen. The coaching team Andreas Jorde and UXNUMX women's national coach Tommy Kettner nominated three goalkeepers, nine defenders, and thirteen strikers for the first event.
The European Cup last April 16 was seen as a kind of starting signal for the U2017 age group. Many nations already had programs for girls below U18, which is why it was decided that major international tournaments in the age group would attract both the younger girls and the future U18s - and women's national teams would advance. Due to the consistently positive comments about the first European Cup in Budapest, it is certainly possible to expand the tournaments to include additional nations in the future. In addition, the women's committee within the IIHF is working to bring this tournament under the auspices of the world association and thus give nations more arguments for its financial viability. Discussions are now underway about the second edition of the European Cup next year. As a possible host, Finland expressed interest in holding the 2018 tournament in Vierumäki.
Tommy Kettner, U18 Women's National Young Talent Coach: "After the successful fourth place in the European Cup, we are pleased that the age group has been integrated into the schedule. The earlier we start working with the players, the better we can observe the development of each individual over the years. An early screening of the younger age groups ultimately helps us coaches to find out which players could possibly be recommended for the other women's national teams."
