Striker suffered a torn anterior syndemotic ligament in the game against Russia
Bitter news for Tobias Rieder and the German national ice hockey team: The striker will be out for the rest of the 2017 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship in Cologne with a tear in the anterior syndesmotic ligament in his right foot. This was given by Dr. Andreas Gröger (Klinkum Rechts der Isar Munich) announced on Tuesday morning after further examinations in the Media Park Clinic: “The anterior syndesmotic ligament is torn, but is in good shape, so it will heal well without surgery.”
The attacker from the NHL's Arizona Coyotes sustained the injury in the first third of the German selection's game against Russia (3:6). This represents a further commitment to the selection of the German Ice Hockey Federation (DEB) not possible anymore.
