The German U16 women's national team won 5-1 (2-1/1-0/2-0) against hosts Hungary in the second game of the European Cup.
The German team got off to a dream start to the game. After just 30 seconds, Luisa Welcke was able to use a pass from the corner from Annabella Sterzik to take the lead 1-0. Just two minutes later, Lisa Idschok increased the score to 2-0. Two minutes later it was the hosts who were able to use one of their few chances to make it 2-1. Kármen Kerekes shot from the blue line, the disc flew in a high arc towards the German goal, hit the crossbar behind goalkeeper Tatjana Pfeifer, and from there bounced off her back and into the goal. The German girls subsequently created further scoring opportunities, but were unable to extend their narrow lead until the first half-time siren.
As in the first game, the start of the second third belonged to the opponents, who tested Tatjana Pfeifer several times but were unable to overcome her. It took the German girls six minutes to get back into the game. Then Sarah Kubiczek was there in the 27th minute, completing a outnumbered counterattack to take the celebrated 3-1 lead. Germany subsequently survived another penalty time and thus defended their lead into the second break.
As in the first period, only 34 seconds had been played in the final third when Annabella Sterzik scored after a counterattack with a shot through the legs of the Hungarian goalkeeper to make it 4-1. Five minutes later, Nina Christof served Sarah Kubiczek in an exemplary manner, who scored her second goal to make it 5-1. Hungary then changed the goalkeeper, who was able to thwart numerous chances for the German team until the end. So the final score remained 5-1, which means that the Neumayer/Kettner team is currently in second place in the table in Group B.
The third game will take place tomorrow at 18.40:XNUMX p.m. against Russia. The game will be live on www.sportstream.hu transfer.
Florian Neumayer, coach U16 women: “Thanks to more commitment, effort and consistency in front of the opponent's goal, we gained more shares in the game and used our chances better than the day before. The victory was okay due to the clear goal difference of 45:10 in our favor. Tomorrow the girls have to improve again to have a chance of winning the group.”
