U18 women: screening course in Füssen

After the season is before the season: From 26th to 30th. In April 2017, the U18 women's national team met before the summer break for a screening course for the coming season at the Federal Training Center (BLZ) in Füssen. Four goalkeepers, nine defenders and twelve strikers born between 2000 and 2004 make up the squad for the measure.

The girls will be asked onto the ice six times within four days by the coaching team led by women's national coach Benjamin Hinterstocker. Hinterstocker will lead the course instead of Kettner, as he is also in charge of the U16s at the European Cup in Budapest. There are also performance tests off the ice on the agenda. This season, after two years in a row in the second division, the U18 women's national team made it back into the top eight nations in the world. “The nations are getting closer together in terms of performance density, so it will certainly not be an easy task to be among the top nations next year,” says Hinterstocker. Therefore, work for the coming season begins now. And Tommy Kettner, U18 women’s national coach, adds: “This course gives us the opportunity to look at young players. Seven players born in 1999 will no longer be available to us next season due to their age. Now it’s time to form a competitive team from the U16 and U18 players.”

The work in the lower grades of girls has been carried out for some time with the help of the DEB-Women's representative and former national player Franziska Busch as well as the league director of the women's Bundesliga Marion Herrmann and the coaching team Hinterstocker-Kettner. In addition to the annual measures in the U15 and U18 areas, this season there is also a U16 team that will take part in the European Cup in Budapest (Hungary) for the first time in April.
