The U18 national team will compete at the 07 IIHF U13 Ice Hockey World Championship Division I – Group A in Slovenia from April 2017th to 2017th, 18. Coach Steffen Ziesche's team will face Denmark, France, Kazakhstan, Norway and Hungary in the tournament. In the “Round Robin” game mode, all nations play against each other once. The first place in the table qualifies for the upcoming 2018 IIHF U18 Ice Hockey World Championship in the top division. The bottom team is relegated to Division I – Group B.
The German U18 national team prepared for the World Cup at the Federal Training Center in Füssen from March 29th to April 03rd, 2017. The team tested against future World Cup opponents Denmark and France. The U04 team has been in Bled since April 18th and is training there for the opening game. This will take place on April 07th from 13:00 p.m. against the French selection.
Coach Steffen Ziesche: “Our team was able to prepare optimally for the tournament in Füssen. A good start is very important in tournament mode. That's why we've been working on the fine-tuning for the first game against France since Tuesday in Bled. We have a fit and motivated team, but Tim Brunnhuber is unfortunately missing due to injury. “Jannik Valenti, a young and talented player, is joining the squad.”
