The U16 national team is already in Frederikshavn, Denmark, where it will compete in the 6-nation tournament at the Scanel Hockey Arena starting tomorrow. In Group B, coach Uli Liebsch's team will play against Italy on April 5th from 19:30 p.m. and against Denmark on April 6th from 19:30 p.m. The two competitors from the German U16 team are already meeting in a direct duel today.
The three other tournament participants Austria, Norway and Switzerland form Group A. On April 7th, the first place teams in Groups A and B will meet the second place team in the other group in the semi-finals. The game for third place and the final will take place on April 3th. The third-placed teams from Groups A and B will play each other in two games on April 8th and 7th.
Trainer Uli Liebsch: “At the end of the season, the 6-nations tournament is always the highlight for the U16 boys. The 2001 vintage has performed well so far this season. We will do everything we can to repeat our participation in the finals from last year. The toughest opponent in the field will probably once again be Switzerland.”
