Olympic champions, world champions and Stanley Cup winners will be moving into the ice stadium at the Pulverturm on April 8th and 9th. The European ice hockey legends are coming to Straubing to play the Final Four of the World Legends Hockey League. The participating nations in the final tournament are Russia, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Sweden.
The squad is top-class. Russia has twelve Olympic champions on its roster, including such illustrious names as Vyacheslav Fetisov, Alexei Kasatonov, Igor Larionov, Alexei Zhamnov, Dmitry Yushkevich and Vladimir Malakhov. There are also other ice hockey legends like Pavel Bure and Sergej Fedorov, who never won Olympic gold but are multiple world champions.
Six world champions and numerous Olympic champions play for the Czech Republic. These include Frantisek Kucera, Richard Zemlicka and Viktor Ujcik. There are similarly illustrious names in Slovakia with Ivan Droppa, Lubomir Sekeras, Igor Liba, Martin Strbak and Robert Petrovicki. Sweden comes with the experience of well over 1.000 NHL games and every player on the squad has won at least one World Cup or Olympic medal - except for Willy Lindström, who was a two-time Stanley Cup winner in the 80s.
The semi-finals have already been drawn and the game for third place and the final have been scheduled. The game plan is as follows:
