The U18 national team lost the first preparation game for the IIHF U18 Ice Hockey World Championship. At the Federal Training Center in Füssen, coach Steffen Ziesche's team lost to the Danish U18 national team 0-1 after extra time. The DEB-Selection started the game well, but was weakened by three penalties in the first ten minutes. However, the Danes were unable to use the numerical advantage to score goals. As a result, the German U18 national players created a preponderance of chances and were able to play more games. But it wasn't enough for the German selection to score either. The Danish goalie Mads Sicherd and the German Benjamin Beck earned top marks in the evening. The DEB-Selection went into overtime due to a penalty in the final third when they were outnumbered. The Danes took advantage of this advantage after just 18 seconds and secured a 1-0 win in the World Cup preparation game thanks to Soren Dietz-Larsen's goal. The U18 national team will face the French selection as their second opponent on Monday from 18:00 p.m.

Andre Dietzsch, Team Manager U18 National Team: “We saw a good preparatory game today. Unfortunately, we were unable to benefit from the better shooting ratio and ultimately lost due to the overtime goal. We are in the middle of preparing for the World Cup and can build on the game despite the result. The next benchmark and World Cup opponent is already waiting for us on Monday: the French selection.”
