Defender Alexander Sulzer (32) from the Kölner Haien has announced his resignation from the German national ice hockey team. National coach Marco Sturm was informed by Sulzer about his decision in a personal conversation.
“It’s a shame that we can no longer count on Alex Sulzer, but I respect this decision and wish him all the best for his future sporting goals at the club,” said Sturm.
“After the long season, I now want to spend more time with my family and give my body time for the necessary regeneration,” explained the defensive player. Sulzer has appeared on the ice 64 times for the national team and during this time took part in four World Championships and two Olympic Games (2006/2010).
