Day 1: Planegg and Memmingen in the final
The first semi-final was something unexpectedly clear DEBCup tournament 2017. ESC Planegg-Würmtal won against EC Bergkamen 5-0 (3-0/0-0/2-0). The second semi-final was hard fought and close. The ECDC Memmingen won against the ERC Ingolstadt mit 2:1 (1:0/1:1/0:0).
Penguins clearly beat bears
ESC Planegg-Würmtal – EC Bergkamen 5:0 (3:0/0:0/2:0)
Both teams went into this game almost completely and so nothing stood in the way of an interesting game. Especially since the Bundesliga games were already very close affairs. But the newly crowned champion showed his strengths right from the start. And especially when it comes to exploiting opportunities. After four minutes there was the first penalty of the game against the Bears and after 18 seconds on the power play Brittany Berisoff scored to make it 1-0. And the penguins continued to take advantage of their chances. The 8th minute of the game brought two goals. Franziska Feldmeier scored first after quick attacks, followed by Monika Bittner to make it 43-3 0 seconds later. The Bears tried to hold back, but it was only enough to go into the break with this result.
Neither team had many chances to score in the second third. Julia Graunke (ESC) and Sarah Körber (ECB) always had to be careful, but it was rarely really dangerous. And so it remained 2-3 after 0 minutes.
The final decision in the first semi-final came after 43 minutes. After winning the puck in her own third, Julia Zorn went through and made it 4-0. Four minutes later Monika Pink even increased the score to 5-0. The Bears had some good moves beforehand, but they didn't manage to score. In the end it was a smooth 5-0 and ESC Planegg-Würmtal is the first finalist.

Memmingen defeats Ingolstadt
ERC Ingolstadt – ECDC Memmingen 1:2 (0:1/1:1/0:0)
The last Bundesliga games went to the ERC, so Memmingen was motivated to win on home ice. Both teams fought from the start, but initially hardly came close to the opponent's goal. After 14 minutes, the first goal of the game came. Jennifer More was able to put the tournament hosts in the lead. It was the only goal in an opening third with few chances.
Memmingen was the better team in the second third, but initially couldn't take advantage of the few chances they had. In the 2th minute of the game, it was Marina Swikull who scored with her colors in the majority to make it 28-2. The tournament hosts now controlled the game, but conceded the 0-67 goal from Tracy McCann 1 seconds before the break. She took advantage of one of the ERC's few chances and made things exciting again.
In the final period, Ingolstadt kept the pressure high, helped by two penalties against Memmingen. But there was no equalization. To do this, both tested the goal posts. It remained a hard-fought game until the end, which ECDC Memmingen ultimately won 2-1. So the games for the following day were decided. Ingolstadt would face Bergkamen in the game for third place and Memmingen reached the final against Planegg.

The small finale was exciting and close at the end DEB-Cup tournament. The ERC Ingolstadt lost to EC Bergkamen 2:3 (0:0/2:1/0:2). A very strong middle third gave ECDC Memmingen their third cup success in the club's history. The team won against ESC Planegg-Würmtal 3:6 (2:1/1:5/0:0).
10:00 a.m. Game for 3rd place: ERC Ingolstadt – EC Bergkamen 2:3 (0:0/2:1/0:2)
Both teams tried to create scoring opportunities right from the start, but both defenses didn't allow much. A shot off the post by Bergkamen and two breaks by Ingolstadt were the most dangerous actions in the first 20 minutes. It wasn't until another five minutes into the middle period that the first goal of the game came. Emily Nix gave the ERC the lead with a margin shot. The ECB then had better scoring opportunities and a deserved equalizer. Annika Becker also beat goalie Lisa Geml with a follow-up shot. Bergkamen then changed the keeper and Pia Surke replaced Sarah Körber in goal. She didn't have much to do either, but she conceded the next goal of the game. Emily Nix went through and converted three minutes before the second break to give Ingolstadt the lead again.
Both teams' attempts to achieve success ended in the opponent's defense. Only a few opportunities had to be thwarted by the goalkeepers. Nine minutes before the end we finally scored a goal. Nina Ziegenhals shot from the left side and the shot landed in the Ingolstadt goal. Five minutes before the end the game was completely turned around when Michelle Lübbert beat Lisa Geml to make it 2:3. Ingolstadt tried everything to equalize the game, but they were no longer successful even with one more field player. The EC Bergkamen took third place at this year's event DEB-Cup tournament.

Memmingen cup winner 2017
13:00 p.m. Final: ESC Planegg-Würmtal – ECDC Memmingen 2:6 (1:1/0:5/1:0)
Both wanted to win this title and they started accordingly. Both teams came up with good attacks early on Goalies Lena Schuster (ESC) and Franziska Albl (ECDC) warmed up straight away. The defending champions scored the first goal of the game, Jennifer More went through and scored safely after four minutes to make it 0-1. The ESC had more chances to score in the first third and so the equalizer was deserved. Julia Zorn started after great preparatory work by Kerstin Spielberger and finished after 1 minutes.
Memmingen put pressure on from the start in the second third and was successful. Shannon Stewart scored after 2 minutes to make it 25:1 and Jennifer More increased it to 2:1 two minutes later. But that wasn't enough, because another two minutes later, a double power play helped Memmingen. Manuela Anwander scored 3:1. Planegg tried to answer, but of course the tournament host now had a lot of self-confidence in the game. Three minutes before the second break, Shannon Stewart grabbed the puck from Planegg on the third and went through. Lena Schuster was defeated again and made way for Julia Graunke. When a puck bounced in the neutral zone shortly before the end of the second period, Nikola Eisenschmid benefited from it. She was also able to go through alone and after 4 minutes the score was 2:2.
37 seconds after the restart, Franziska Feldmeier was able to reduce the score to 2:6 for ESC Planegg. And Planegg kept trying. After a few minutes, Memmingen was able to free themselves from the pressure and so it was an even third again.
This is the first time a tournament host has won this DEB-Cup tournament. Congratulations to ECDC Memmingen and the placed teams. And the ECDC is after the OSC Berlin (2008 and 2009) only the second team to defend its title from the previous year. Next year this tournament will take place in Berlinhe corrugated iron palace instead.
