Thalys train in the colors of the 2017 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship
Cologne/Paris, 16. March 2017 - The international high-speed train Thalys literally shows its colors as an official partner of the 2017 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship: One of the 26 trains from the Thalys fleet was decorated in the official colors of the sporting event and left Paris for the first time today at 15:15 p.m arriving in Cologne. With this, Thalys advertises itself as the official transporter of the national teams and ice hockey teams.Fans for the upcoming IIHF Ice Hockey World Championships in Cologne and Paris.
On board were, among others, the Mayor of Cologne Henriette Reker, Franz Reindl, President of the Deutscher Eishockey-Bund (DEB) and the World Cup Organizing Committee as well as Bruno Dierickx, Marketing and Sales Director of Thalys. The travelers were ceremoniously welcomed on the platform by a delegation from the “Rote Funken”, the traditional club of the Cologne Carnival.
“With the color design of our train we would like to express this special partnership. We are looking forward to an exciting world championship and invite all ice hockey playersFans and Thalys customers to take this opportunity to discover the numerous activities surrounding the sporting event in Cologne and Paris," explains Dierickx. Reindl adds: "The partnership with Thalys fits perfectly with the motto of the World Cup 'Together for 2017', because Thalys brings our World Cup host cities Cologne and Paris very close together and together we have now set in motion a train designed entirely in the World Cup design. This has never happened before in the history of IIHF Ice Hockey World Championships. The train will cause a sensation everywhere and with it the anticipation for the 2017 IIHF World Cup will continue to gain momentum at high speed. We would also like to give special thanks to KL Druck, one of our official partners, who have provided great support and implementation of this train project."
KL Druck from Bergisch-Gladbach near Cologne printed a total of 1.600 linear meters of special film with surface laminate using a high-performance digital process and attached it to the train. Roy Wedema from Infront Sports & Media, chief designer of the 2017 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship, is responsible for the design of the Thalys World Cup train.
The 2017 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship will take place from May 5th to 21st, 2017 in Cologne and Paris. Thalys offers five direct connections between the two cities every day: organizers, teams, journalists and all ice hockey fans travel in just 3 hours and 15 minutes.Fans from Cologne to Paris and vice versa.
