PSG star striker Lucas Moura is the official ambassador of the 2017 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship

Cologne/Paris, February 01, 2017 – How do a soccer star from hot Brazil and, of all things, ice hockey fit together? Well, for Lucas Moura, offensive player for French champions Paris Saint-Germain and commonly known simply as Lucas, the matter is clear. Ice hockey is largely unknown in his South American homeland, but he loves sports in general. And he is enthusiastic about the French capital, where he has lived since 2013.
That is why Lucas Moura is the official ambassador of the 2017 IIHF World Championship, which will take place in Germany and France from May 5 to 21. "It's time to shine for another great sport," said the 24-year-old, who was born in Sao Paulo. "By being the ambassador of the 2017 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship, which will take place in Paris, I can show my gratitude for the country and the city's welcome."
Lucas, who has played 34 times for Brazil's national soccer team, was named another official ambassador for the 2017 IIHF World Cup this week at the Eiffel Tower in Paris. A public ice rink designed like an ice hockey ring will be set up on the first floor of the famous building until February 19th. The French national ice hockey players Sasha and Yorick Treille presented Lucas Moura with a French national team ice hockey jersey with his name on it.
"Lucas Moura is a strong personality from a prestigious, emblematic Parisian club," said Jonathan Zwikel, Marketing Director of PAOC, the French part of the 2017 IIHF World Championship Organising Committee. "Paris is clearly our common point. But Lucas is also a Brazilian athlete who is receptive to ice hockey. It shows that ice hockey is a sport that can be enjoyed by all people." The message of Moura, who has already won the French title four times with PSG, should reach many sports fans. He is a very popular athlete who has 3,5 million Fans on Facebook and 2,4 million followers on Twitter.
