The German U18 women's national team won 2017-18 (2-0/1-0/1-0) against Slovakia on the third matchday of the 0 IIHF U0 Women's Ice Hockey World Championship. Tomorrow it hits DEB-Selection at 12.00 p.m. on Austria.
The start was promising. After just 26 seconds, Franziska Feldmeier scored from the turn with a shot into the top corner to make it 1-0. As a result, the German U18 women created a few scoring opportunities, but were unable to extend their lead. On the other hand, Johanna May defended her own goal brilliantly, so that the German team went into the first break with a narrow lead.
Right at the beginning of the second third, the German women had to accept a situation where they were outnumbered, but they managed to overcome it unscathed. In the middle of the third, Celina Haider took advantage of a crowd in front of the goal and lifted the disc with her backhand over the Slovakian goalkeeper into the goal for a 2-0 lead.
Thanks to a disciplined team performance in the final third, the German team controlled the game and secured their second win in a row.
