Women's national team defeats Sweden

In the first game of the Nations Cup in Füssen, the German women's national team showed a committed performance and won a 2-0 (0-0/0-0/2-0) win against Sweden. The team of national coach Benjamin Hinterstocker confirmed their form and achieved their first win against the northern Europeans since 2001.
In a balanced first third, the defensive departments of both teams were convincing and scoring opportunities remained scarce. This initially continued in the middle third, before the guests increased the pressure towards the end of the second period. The DEBHowever, with a lot of commitment, the selection made it into the second break without conceding a goal. In the middle of the last third it was Nicola Eisenschmid who scored 50-1 with a follow-up shot in her 0th international match. The Swedes now pushed for the equalizer, but Jennifer Harß in the German goal continued to keep her box clean. One minute before the end, visiting coach Leif Boork took his goalkeeper off the ice in favor of a sixth field player, but Andrea Lanzl hit the empty Swedish goal four seconds before the end to make the final score 2-0.
Women's national coach Benjamin Hinterstocker: "After the victory against Canada on Monday, we were able to repeat the performance we showed there today. We managed to play good hockey for 60 minutes. However, there are still some areas in our game that need to be improved."

U18 Women: Victory in the last World Cup test
Kubiczek scores twice / Harrer: “Convincing team performance”
The German U18 women's national team won 2017:18 (5:1/2:1/2:0) against France in the last test before the upcoming 1 IIHF U0 Women's Ice Hockey World Championship Div.I.
Sarah Kubiczek was able to give the German team a 1-0 lead in just the second minute of the game. The French equalized five minutes later to make it 1-1. Sarah Kubiczek scored her second goal to make it 2-1 at halftime. Midway through the second period, the German U18 women increased their lead to 3-1 through Luisa Kaiser and took the lead 4-1 three minutes before the second break through Naemi Bär. Luisa Welcke scored ten minutes before the end to make the final score 5-1.
Viona Harrer, assistant coach of the U18 women's national team: “We were convincing today with a united team performance and deserved to win. The last two training sessions are scheduled for tomorrow before we travel to Budapest on Friday.”
