U18 women's national team: Preparation for the World Cup in Budapest

Preparation in Füssen and Bad Tölz / test games against Austria and France

Traditionally, the Christmas break for the U18 women's national team also marks the beginning of the hot phase of the season. On Tuesday, December 27.12.16th, 30.12.16, the team led by Federal Young talent coach Tommy Kettner will meet in Füssen to intensively prepare for the U18 World Cup Div. in the first preparatory course until December 08.01th, 14.01.17. I, which will take place in Budapest from January 30.12.16th to January XNUMXth, XNUMX. The squad includes three goalkeepers, eight defenders and twelve strikers. At the end of the first course, the team will travel to Salzburg on December XNUMX, XNUMX for the first test match against a direct World Cup opponent, where they will face the Austrian team. After the game, the final World Cup squad will be announced, which includes two goalkeepers, six defenders and twelve strikers.

The team will meet again two days later in Bad Tölz from January 02.01nd. to complete the second part of the World Cup preparation by January 06.01.17th, 04.01.17. She will face her World Cup opponent from France in the second test match on January 18th, XNUMX. The UXNUMX women are accompanied on this course by a television team from ZDF, which is recording a report for the pur+ program. The DEB-Tross will set off after the course on January 06.01th. on the way to Budapest.

Tommy Kettner, Federal Young Talent Trainer Women: “With Austria and France, we are playing against two opponents in preparation that we will face again at the World Cup. The test matches will give us an initial indication of where we are and what we still need to work on shortly before the World Cup. Both courses are very important for us. In Füssen the girls have another last chance to show that they have the absolute will to be in the final World Cup squad. Because of this, it will certainly not be easy for us to decide who will make it in the end and of course it is always difficult to have to tell some of them that unfortunately they didn't make it. The course in Bad Tölz helps us coaches to perfectly coordinate the ranks and thus optimally prepare the team for the World Cup. We are of course very pleased about ZDF's contribution. It’s an opportunity for our sport and especially for the girls to present themselves to a broader public.”
