All placements still open / Austria has to provide support
At the 2017 IIHF U20 Ice Hockey World Championship Div.I in Bremerhaven there will be a real showdown today on the last match day. All placements are still open. Who gets the medals, who gets relegated, who gets promoted. And the German selection around BundesYoung talent trainer Christian Künast is right in the middle of it all. The only thing the German U20 players can no longer do is relegate; that will be decided in the direct duel between Kazakhstan and Norway at 13.00 p.m. Both teams currently have three points and are playing against relegation to Div.I Group B today.
The DEB-Selection needed in order to achieve promotion to the top division, but today support from Austria. The neighbors meet Belarus at 16.30:20 p.m. and have to take at least two points from them so that Germany can end up at the top. If this happens, then the German U20.00 can secure the title with a win against France this evening at XNUMX p.m. If the Belarusians win the game, Germany will still have silverware.
In principle, it happened as predicted, because “everyone can beat everyone,” Künast predicted before the tournament. Of course, we would have liked it not to have been quite so exciting and had to hope for help from the Austrians, because “we can't influence what happens before our last game, but we can influence our own and that's what we're concentrating on,” said Künast.
