The Oberliga Süd has to cope with the loss of a member eleven match days before the end. In a letter dated December 12th, EHV Schönheide 09 informed the Deutscher Eishockey-Bund (DEB) and the clubs Oberliga Süd that the board of directors has filed an application to open insolvency proceedings at the Chemnitz district court. At the same time, it was announced that EHV Schönheide 09 would stop playing and training with immediate effect.
“This is shocking and sad news for the league and the Schönheide ice hockey location. This is a bitter setback, especially for ice hockey in the East. Unfortunately, the sporting development of the EHV has recently been so negative that it has had a massive impact on the number of spectators,” says the person responsible for game operations DEB responsible Vice President Marc Hindelang. In any case, this was given as the reason for the exit. "Compared to the DEB And a different picture has recently been painted in the press about the overall situation in Schönheide, so the step to stop completely is surprising." The EHV Schönheide only went into the last season at its own request Oberliga Süd changed and as the only Saxon club among the Bavarian clubs, an asset to the league.
For the Oberliga Süd If the club is eliminated, the remaining games will be scored with 5:0 goals and 3:0 points for the respective opponents of EHV Schönheide. “This measure is necessary to avoid a lopsided situation in the table,” says Oliver Seeliger, director of gaming operations DEB. “Thanks to the built-in regional round, the clubs from the north played against Schönheide four times, the ones from the south only twice.” This is in the DEB- Rules of play regulated in Article 32.2. Schönheide will therefore continue to be listed in the table.
The further regulations of the procedure result from the implementing regulations Oberliga Süd, which can be viewed under points 1.6.3 and 1.6.4.
