At the Euro Hockey Challenge, the German selection will meet the Czech Republic twice in April
The German national ice hockey team's preparation program for the 2017 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship in Cologne (May 5th - 21st, 2017) is taking shape: around two weeks before the start of the World Cup tournament, national coach Marco Sturm's team is testing as part of the Euro Hockey Challenge in Nuremberg (Saturday, April 22, 2017, 16.00:23 p.m.) and Mannheim (Sunday, April 2017, 16.45, 1:XNUMX p.m.) against the Czech Republic. SPORTXNUMX will broadcast both games live and exclusively.
National coach Marco Sturm: “At this point we are already in the late phase of preparation for the 2017 home World Cup and are therefore pleased about such a strong opponent. With Nuremberg and Mannheim, we have not only been able to secure two well-known locations with modern arenas for these encounters, but also large ones Fan-Potential."
Nuremberg and Mannheim were last international match venues as part of the Euro Hockey Challenge in May 2014. In the Mannheim SAP Arena, the German selection won against Switzerland 2-0, and a few days later in the ARENA NÜRNBERGER VERSICHERUNGEN, Team USA narrowly prevailed against the national team 3-1.
The Euro Hockey Challenge is now an established and welcome game format as a direct preparation for the World Cup in the general plan of the European nations. In the remaining weeks shortly before the 2017 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship in Cologne, players active abroad will also take part alongside the DEL players.
