Five Germans elected to IIHF committees
Over the next four years, a total of 124 experts from across the ice hockey world will be working in various specialist areas. Among other things, some German representatives were elected again this year.
DEBPresident Franz Reindl will be the Chairman of the Competition and Coordination Committee until 2020. National coach for science and training, Stefan Schaidnagel will be a member of the Coaching Committee, Tino Boos is part of the Disciplinary Committee, DEL Managing Director Gernot Tripke is on the Legal Committee, DEB Vice President Marc Hindelang is a member of the “Environmental & Social Activities Committee” and Robert Schütt, head of the DEB Marketing department, is on the “TV / New Media / Marketing Committee”.
The congresses take place every six months. The first meeting and thus the beginning of the members' term of office takes place in December in Zurich (Switzerland).
Referee nominations for IIHF tournaments have been confirmed
Referees from a total of 43 countries have been nominated for the 2017 IIHF tournaments. 21 German referees will be there. In addition to Lars Brueggemann and Daniel Piechaczek, Marian Rohatsch and Gordon Schukies will also referee at the 2017 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship in Cologne and Paris. Lukas Kohlmüller and Nikolaj Ponomarjow have been nominated as linesmen. Jonas Merten will be at Division III in Bulgaria. Both Marian Rohatsch and Lukas Kohlmüller (linesman) have been named for the U20 World Championship in Canada. Thorsten Lajoie and Jan-Christian Müller (linesman) will be at the U20 home World Championship in Bremerhaven. Marc Iwert will referee at the U18 World Championship in Slovakia. Nicole Hertrich and Lisa Linek (line) have been nominated for the Women's World Championship in the top division in the USA. Tijana Haack and Svenja Strohmenger (line) will be in Austria in Division I, as well as Daniela Kiefer in Division I Group B in Poland and Julia Tschirner in Division II Group B in Iceland. Julia Tschirner has been nominated for the Olympic Qualification Tournament Round 2, Group G in Kazakhstan, as well as Ramona Weiss and Alexandra Klaffrei (linesman) in Group H in Spain. Lisa Linnek will referee on the line at the final tournament of the Olympic qualification in Switzerland.
Girls Ice Hockey Weekend
Thousands of girls took part in the World Girls Ice Hockey Weekend in over 40 countries last weekend. In Germany the Frankfurt Lions and the Eisbären Berlin Girls of all ages are able to take their first steps on the ice with great success.
