0:3 deficit can no longer be made up / German selection takes 3rd place
The German U18 women's national team lost their last game at the German Unity Cup in Selb 1:3 (0:3/0:0/1:0) against Russia.
The German U18 women started the game well and were able to create good chances at the beginning. Then the Russians got better and better into the game and scored three goals by the middle of the first third. The German team showed character and fought their way back into the game in the second half of the game, but were unable to reward themselves. Franziska Feldmeier scored in the final third shortly before the end to make it 1:3, but the German team was unable to turn things around despite the final offensive and ended the tournament in third place.
Tommy Kettner, national coach U18 women: “Unfortunately, the team wasn’t focused enough at the start of the game. From the second third onwards they increased the tempo and created good chances. In the end it wasn't enough to catch up. Now the girls' season starts with their home teams, where they need to further improve their ice hockey-specific skills. We will then meet again in October for the next measure.”
