DEB represented with fifteen participants at the High Performance Camp
Ten players, three coaches and two officials represented the Deutscher Eishockey-Bund (DEB) from July 09th to 16th, 2016 at the U18 IIHF Women's High Performance Camp in Vierumäki/Finland.
A total of 260 participants (including 123 female players) from 33 nations spent a week at the Sport Institute Vierumäki. In addition to the camp, which was attended by all players, coaches, physical therapists, athletic trainers, team managers and equipment managers, the IIHF held three additional programs on the topics of annual training planning, long-term development planning and World Girls' Ice Hockey Weekend.
The players and coaches were divided into six teams to train with their peers from other nations, organize training on and off the ice, exchange experiences and make friends. The content of the camp consisted of sessions on and off the ice, games against the other teams, fitness tests, lectures on the topics of nutrition and doping as well as mental training. In total, the camp participants completed seven training sessions on the ice, four athletic sessions and three games.
The World Ice Hockey Federation IIHF is hosting this camp to promote collaboration with national federations, develop U18 athletes from potential Olympic nations, promote fair play and respect, and create networks within the women's ice hockey family to share problems and find solutions and to promote international friendships and relationships.
The German participants:
High performance camp: Johanna May, Corinna Fiedler, Lea Welcke, Hannah Amort, Luisa Kaiser, Christina Schwamborn, Celina Haider, Annika Becker, Katharina Ott, Noemi Bär (all players), Julia Graunke (goalkeeper coach), Marco Dietzel (athletic coach) and Benjamin Hinterstocker (video coach)
Long-term development planning: Marion Herrmann (Women’s League Manager)
World Girls' Ice Hockey Weekends: Franziska Busch (women’s representative)
Benjamin Hinterstocker, national women's coach: “It is very positive that the DEB is so numerous at this camp with ten girls. The girls have the opportunity to exchange ideas with players from other nations and compare what level they are at internationally. During this week they will deepen their own skills and learn new ones, which they can then share and consolidate with their teammates at the U18 course in Füssen next week. It is certainly interesting for the trainers to hear and see how training is structured and carried out in other nations. Women's ice hockey in Germany benefits from the opportunity to send two officials, Marion Herrmann and Franziska Busch, who will complete two programs during this week with the long-term development planning and the World Girls' Ice Hockey Weekend, which are linked to the current development in Germany connect.”
Annika Becker: “I am very happy that I had the chance to take part in this camp. It was a great experience and a lot of fun. We had the opportunity to learn so much and then take this knowledge home and apply it there. I particularly liked the skating simulation here. I can do all of the exercises without any equipment in a small space. I made a lot of new friends who I chatted with throughout the week about their workout routines and at-home workouts.
