The U18 national team defeated Team Norway 2016:18 (6:3; 2:1; 1:2) in the first game of the 3 IIHF U0 Ice Hockey World Championship Div.I in Minsk/Belarus, thus making the start of the tournament a success.
The DEB-Selection was able to take the lead after just under four minutes of play thanks to a nice solo from Christoph Kiefersauer. But the Norwegians only needed five minutes to equalize and equalize the German goal. A few seconds before the first break, it was Thore Weyrauch who was able to put the German team in the lead again with his goal.
In the second period, it was the Germans who got into the game better and were able to extend their lead to 3:1 with a goal from Thomas Reichel. But the Norwegians fought back and were able to equalize before the final period.
The coaching team of Rick Böhm and Thomas Schädler seemed to have found the right words in the dressing room: Undeterred, the Germans created more chances and rewarded their work with three more goals.
