The final tournament for the students took place from March 18th to 20th, 2016 in the ice rink at Seilersee in Iserlohn. The first three from the main round North A and the main round South A qualified. And so the Iserlohner EC, the Kölner EC, the Krefelder EV 81, the Jungadler Mannheim, the EC Bad Tölz and the EV Regensburg met in a battle for the championship title.
Day 1, March 18, 2016: Iserlohn, Cologne and Krefeld win their opening duels
The Iserlohn Young Roosters won the first game of the tournament 2-0 (0-0/0-0/2-0) against EC Bad Tölz.
Tölz found their way into the game better and created numerous chances, but were repeatedly thwarted by Iserlohn's goalkeeper. Since Iserlohn often got stuck in the offensive against Tölz's defense, the score was 0:0 at the first break.
Iserlohn came into the game better after the break and was able to make an impact in the opening minutes. However, they were unable to score. Bad Tölz then took control of the game again, but were unable to capitalize on their chances. The middle third remained goalless.
It was only a minute into the final third when the Iserlohn team made it 1-0. Luke Volkmann brought his colors into the lead in the majority. Spurred on by the first goal, Iserlohn increased the pace and was rewarded four minutes later. Louis Brune made the decision 4-2.
The Kölner Haie then won their opening duel against the Young Eagle Mannheim mit 3:1 (0:0/1:0/2:1).
The game did what it promised – a game at the top level. But both goalkeepers were always in control of the situation in the first third and were able to keep their goals clean.
In the second half of the game, only Cologne, in the person of Manuel Alberg, was able to take advantage of one of the numerous goalscoring opportunities and make it 1-0.
At the beginning of the final period, Nick Aichinger increased Cologne's lead to 2-0. The young eagles turned things up again and reduced the score to 2-1 through Yannik Valenti. Shortly before the end, Mannheim tried everything again and took the goalie off the ice. Cologne took advantage of the chance and scored an empty net goal through Dominik Bokk to make the final score 3-1.
The third game of the day was played by Krefelder EV and EV Regensburg. The Krefeld team won 4:2 (1:0/1:2/2:0).
They were the superior team for long stretches in the first third. But it was only a penalty four minutes before the end of the period that Krefeld were able to use Jan Schumacher to make it 1-0 at halftime.
In the second third, the Regensburg team were able to make the game more balanced, scoring the next goal and even taking the lead a little later. Alexander Dorsch scored the 1-1 goal in the majority. Leon Zitzer took care of the Regensburg lead. Shaken up by the goal, Krefeld scored the 2-2 equalizer with a double majority. 18 seconds before the halftime siren, Jason Hinz gave the penguins a 3-2 lead with a break. With this result we went into the break.
In the last third, Krefeld closed the bag and scored 6 minutes before the end when they were outnumbered by Edwin Schitz to make the final score 4:2.
In the second game of the day for the Young Eagle Mannheim against the EC Bad Tölz The final score was 2:7 (0:3/0:3/2:2).
At the start of the game it seemed to be an even game. In the 5th minute, the Mannheimers were able to celebrate for the first time with a goal from Jan Niyenhuis to make it 1-0. All attempts by the Tölz team to equalize ended with Mannheim's goalkeeper at the latest. Mannheim, on the other hand, increased the score to 13-2 for the young eagles in the 0th minute through Juris Gabrich. 3 minutes before the half-time siren, Yannik Valenti made it 3-0 with his goal to make it XNUMX-XNUMX.
In the second half, Bad Tölz was unable to get back into the game. The logical consequence was Mannheim's 4:0 goal through Sebastian Hon. Goal number 5 for Mannheim followed in the 29th minute.
Tölz struggled a bit in the final third. However, Mannheim scored first again, using a superiority through Valentino Klos to make it 6-0. Shortly afterwards, the Tölz team were able to use their advantage and Thomas März reduced the score to 6:1. Mannheim restored their old goal lead a few minutes later and scored through Denis Majewski to make it 7-1. Luca Tosto from Tölz made the final score 7:2.
They played the penultimate game of the day Kölner Haie and Krefeld Pinguine out of. Cologne won 4:2 (1:1/2:1/1:0).
The Cologne team got into the game better and were able to take a 1-0 lead through Lukas Ribarik in the third minute of the game. Krefeld had the advantage through Tim Stützle to equalize 1-1 and at the same time score at halftime.
In the second third it took until the 14th minute before a team was allowed to celebrate again. Cologne's Eric Betzold converted for a 2-1 lead. Just a few seconds later, Cologne celebrated again, Dominik Bokk finished with a beautiful shot into the corner to make it 3-1. With 33 seconds left, the penguins were able to make things exciting again and reduced the score to 3-2 through Christian Preiß.
In the final third, both teams fought for every inch of ice. At the end, Krefeld took the goalkeeper off the ice and Krefeld's Dennis Lobach took advantage of this to make it 4-2 empty net goal.
The final point of the first day of the tournament was the game between the Iserlohn Young Roosters and the EV Regensburg. She won Iserlohn 3:2 (1:1/1:1/1:0). It took until the seventh minute of the game until the Sauerlanders were able to put one of their attacks into the goal through Luke Volkmann to make it 1-0. However, the lead didn't last long. In the 13th minute, Ludwig Nirschl scored the 1-1 equalizer for Regensburg.
Regensburg played almost exclusively in the second third. But the Iserlohn team scored the goal. Tobias Müller used a majority to take a 2-1 lead. However, the Young Roosters failed to take the lead into the locker room. Ludwig Nirschl once again scored solo for Regensburg to make it 2-2.
Nikita Alexandrov rounded off the game with the lucky 3-2 winning goal for Iserlohn.
Day 2, March 19, 2016: Young Roosters, lions and young eagles victorious
The teams opened the second day of the tournament Mannheim and Krefeld. Mannheim won the match 2:1 (0:1/0:0/2:0).
From the start it was a very disjointed and physical game. It wasn't until the 12th minute of the game that Krefeld's Domenic Snykers broke through the Mannheim defense and took the 0-1 lead.
In the second third, the audience saw the same picture for long stretches. Both teams had great chances, but they failed to put the ball in the goal. And so the final third had to bring the decision.
Mannheim came out of the locker room better and got off to a dream start. Only 30 seconds had been played when Sebastian Hon scored the much-celebrated 1-1 equalizer. Five minutes before the end of the game the decision was made in Mannheim's favor. Valentino Klos scored the winning goal to make it 2-1.
After a short break in the game, the Bavarian duel began Bad Tolz against Regensburg further. In the end, Bad Tölz was ahead with 5:1 (0:1/3:0/2:0).
The Regensburg team initially got into the game much better. Ludwig Nirschl scored after 3 minutes to give Regensburg a 0-1 lead.
The Tölzer Löwen came out of the locker room better in the second third. Filip Varejcka was able to equalize the score at 1-1 for Tölzer after six minutes. The Tölz team's 2-1 lead fell to Luca Tosto in the 32nd minute of the game. Just under a minute later, Luca Tosto (3:1) again extended Tölz's lead.
In the final third, a Tölzer double strike in the 45th minute ensured the final score.
In their third game at this tournament they beat Iserlohn Young Roosters the Cologne EC mit 8:1 (4:0/3:1/1:0).
The first goal for the Iserlohn team was scored in the 3rd minute of the game. Luke Volkmann scored in the majority to make it 1-0. The game went up and down. Both teams gave each other nothing. 7 minutes later, Nikita Alexandrov increased the score to 2-0 for the Young Roosters. By the first break, Louis Brune and Tobias Möller increased the score to 4-0 for Iserlohn.
After the break, the Iserlohn team used a majority to make it 5-0. Maximilian Jung was the goalscorer. When another Cologne player was in the penalty box, Iserlohn made it 6-0 again in the person of Nikita Alexandrov. Cologne responded to Iserlohn's Vincent Brüggemann's 7-0 lead 50 seconds before the end of the second period with a 7-1 goal.
Not much happened in the last part of the game. Raik Rennert scored for the Iserlohn team to make the final score 8-1.
The very next game of the second day of the tournament again involved Cologne. Cologne got it Bad Tolz to do and lost the comparison with 2:4 (2:2/0:1/0:1).
The Haie started the game well. After just 13 seconds they were able to celebrate thanks to Dennis Lobach, who made it 1-0. As a result, the cathedral townspeople built up even more pressure. And again it was Dennis Lobach who scored for the cathedral town team to make it 2-0. But the Tölz team didn't give up and scored a 2-1 goal thanks to Luca Tosto's own advantage. Shortly before the half-time siren, the Tölz team was able to equalize 2-2 through Filip Varejcka.
In the second and third third, Filip Varejcka scored with his goals No. 2 and 3 to take the lead and decide the game in favor of the Tölz team.
In the last game of the day they scored Krefelder EV and Iserlohn EC each other. The comparison went to Iserlohn with 4:8 (0:3/2:3/2:2).
Iserlohn was able to take advantage of two outnumbered situations at the start to take a 0-2 lead. The goal scorers were Maximilian Jung and Tobias Möller. Shortly before the break, Nikita Alexandrov made it 0:3 at the end of the third period from the Young Roosters' point of view.
In the first minute of the second period, Nikita Alexandrov was able to increase the score to 0:5 for the Sauerlanders with two goals. But Krefeld didn't give up and scored 1:5 in the sixth minute of the middle period. A little later, the Krefeld team was able to reduce the score to 2:5. Shortly before the half-time siren, Nikita Alexandrov restored the old goal lead for the Iserlohn team (2:6).
Only 43 seconds had been played in the final third when the next goal was scored. Calvin Manke scored 2:7 for Iserlohn. Two minutes later, Louis Brune was awarded a penalty, which he completed to make it 2:8. After this goal, Krefeld fought its way back into the game and reduced the lead to 4:8 in the last three minutes of the game.
Day 3, March 20, 2016: Cologne, Bad Tölz and Iserlohn with victories on the last day of the tournament
The first was Regensburg and Cologne. The Haie won their last tournament game 2:4 (0:1/1:0/1:2).
Not much happened at the beginning and it took until the 15th minute of the game before the first goal was scored. Cologne's Tommy Pasanen scored the 0-1.
The second third was largely uneventful apart from a Regensburg penalty. Christoph Schmid converted this to make it 1-1.
So the decision had to be made in the final third. Cologne was able to advance and scored through Kevin Strom to take the lead 1:2. But Regensburg didn't give up and equalized 41-2 after a counterattack in the 2st minute. Manuel Alberg completed Cologne's victory with a double strike in the 45th and 54th minutes.
The second duel was called Bad Tolz against Krefeld, where the Bayern In the end we were ahead 6:3 (3:0/1:2/2:1).
In the first third, the Tölzer Löwen had more of the game and went into the first break with a 3-0 lead thanks to Luca Tosto and Filip Varejcka (2x).
But the Krefeld people didn't give up. Five minutes had been played in the second period when Joey Luknowsky was able to reduce the score to 3-1. With the advantage, the Lions were able to restore the old gap (Niklas Heinzinger made it 4-1) before Jan Schumacher scored three minutes later to make it 4-2.
In the final third, the Tölz team scored twice more up to the 10th minute to take a 6-2 lead (Luca Tosto and John-Jason Peterka). Krefeld was only able to reduce the score to 13:6 in the 3th minute thanks to Joey Luknowsky.
The game concluded the tournament Iserlohn against Mannheim. The Iserlohn team won very narrowly with 3:2 after P. (1:1/0:0/1:1/2:1).
The Young Roosters took the lead twice in the match and the Eagles equalized twice. The decision had to be made in a penalty shootout. Only one man from Mannheim scored here, while Iserlohn was successful twice.
All teams played exciting, intense and fair games throughout the tournament, and the Iserlohn Young Roosters were worthy champions. The Sauerlanders only lost one point to the young eagles from Mannheim. The young eagles from Mannheim came second, ahead of the teams from Bad Tölz, Cologne, Krefeld and Regensburg.
