Nowadays, clubs make a significant contribution to the positive development of children and young people - and not just in sports. Many clubs are already involved beyond sport and teach children important social values such as fairness, tolerance and respect. In addition to supporting sports, they also help their young talent develop their own strong personality.
“The Green Ribbon for exemplary talent promotion in clubs” has been honoring concepts of consistent young talent work for 30 years, regardless of club size or popularity of the sport. In sport, continuity is an absolute success factor. Long-term, sustainable and exemplary talent development will therefore pay off again in 2016.
50 clubs or club departments from the eligible Olympic and non-Olympic top associations of the German Olympic Sports Confederation have the chance to receive the “Green Ribbon” again this year. The prerequisite for the clubs is that they actively seek out and promote young talent and actively prevent doping.
The winning clubs are supported by this prize, awarded by Commerzbank and the German Olympic Sports Confederation, with a bonus of 5.000 euros each for their young talent work in competitive sports.
As part of a tour of Germany, all award winners receive a crystal trophy in addition to the check. In addition, all award-winning clubs are provided with communication materials to help them publicize their “Green Ribbon” award.
