Tickets for the 2017 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship available now
This Friday, February 05th, 2016, the pre-sale of ticket packages for the 2017 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship (May 5th - 21st, 2017) organized jointly by Germany and France in Cologne and Paris begins.
In this first phase of advance sales, the number of teams and games per arena has been determined, but there is still no location or group assignment for the individual teams. The packages available now include a price advantage of up to 20% compared to individual tickets that will go on sale later - depending on availability. For example, the season ticket for all 28 games in the preliminary round in Cologne or Paris offers world-class ice hockey live for an average of around €15 per game.
Franz Reindl, President of the Organizing Committee explains: “We saw in 2010 at the last IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship in Germany that many Fans want to secure continuous seats for several games very early on. We are therefore delighted that we can offer very attractive ticket packages for our venues Cologne and Paris just 15 months before the start of the 2017 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship. This time too, we are already expecting strong demand in this pre-sale phase, especially since the home teams Germany and France will each have at least seven games in front of their own fans in 2017, which are completely included in the "Venue Package" or the "Group Package."
The following ticket variants are initially on offer:
- The "Venue Package" – The season ticket for all 34 games in Cologne from €729 or all 30 games in Paris from €469
- The "Group Package" – The season ticket for all 28 preliminary round games in Cologne from €426 or Paris from €406
- The Final Round Package – The season ticket for the entire final round in Cologne, consisting of six games with two quarter-finals, two semi-finals, the bronze final and the gold final from €351
- The Final weekend package – The season ticket for the final weekend in Cologne, consisting of four games including two semi-finals, bronze final and gold final €267
Standard discounts are available for those eligible. All packages are issued in the form of individual cards and are transferable. It is also planned to provide an official resale portal in 2017, where unused individual cards from a package can probably also be offered for sale.

Under the motto "Together for 2017", Germany and France were the first nations in history to submit a joint bid for an IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship. The 81st IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship will take place from May 05th to 21st, 2017 in the "Lanxess arena" in Cologne and the "AccorHotels Arena" in Paris. The 64 top ice hockey nations will determine their world champion in a total of 16 games. 34 games will be played in Cologne. First, in a preliminary round with eight teams, including Team Germany, four quarter-finalists will be determined directly in 28 games in a round-robin format. The competition will then continue in Cologne in a knockout system with two quarter-finals, two semi-finals, a match for third place and the final. In Paris, eight nations, including Team France, will also play 28 preliminary round games and two quarter-finals, for a total of 30 games. The group allocation and game schedule will be finalized in June 2016. The organizing committee, headed by President Franz Reindl and Vice President Luc Tardif, is expecting 600.000 spectators in the arenas of Cologne and Paris. Over 300 international TV channels in around 165 countries will report on the IIHF World Championship in Germany and France for around a billion people worldwide.
